Week of Oct 2 - 8
A quiet week for events, hot slices on IG, and a few need-to-know headlines.

Prince St. Vegan Slice
The week ahead is a little lighter on the events side, but there’s still the Nuit Blanche vegan flower action on Saturday and a couple of news items worth your time (PLANTA’s restructuring, A&W’s plant-based switch, plus Good Rebel turning 9!).
I also posted Best of Vegan Pizza in Toronto (Part 1) on Instagram, worth a peek if you’re plotting weekend eats. Part 2 will follow soon since I’ve received lots of suggestions on what spots should be added next.
As always, I’ll drop any late additions on IG before the weekend.
Buy Vegan — Your vegan-only catalogue for Canada
Everything listed is verified vegan and orderable in Canada. Compare prices across retailers, see where to buy, and skip the label decoding. It’s a catalogue of vegan products and point you to the shops that sell them. As a new site, feedback and suggestions are always welcome.
What it is (and isn’t)
Vegan-only catalogue: every item verified—no label decoding.
Canada-ready: listings checked for Canadian shipping or local availability.
Where to buy & price look-up: we strive to list all retailers so you can compare.
Not a storefront: we don’t sell; we point you to the places that do.
New this week:
⭐ Spotlight: Sabertooth II Parka — a Canadian-made, fully vegan expedition coat built for extreme cold, using recycled, animal-free materials and plant-based insulation. Designed and manufactured in Toronto by a certified B-Corp, it’s rated for serious winter conditions (around −30 °C), balancing maximum warmth with a lower-impact footprint. |
New listings roll out weekly as we grow toward a comprehensive vegan database for Canadian shoppers. Let’s vote with our dollars—and Buy Vegan.
Week of September 25 - October 01:
News:
PLANTA, founded in Toronto, has emerged from Chapter 11 after a sale of assets to a new entity affiliated with Anchorage Capital; 8 of the brand’s 18 North American restaurants will continue operating, with the company indicating remaining locations include cities such as Toronto, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Washington, D.C. This follows the May filing reported by Reuters earlier this year. If you’re planning a visit to a Toronto PLANTA, check hours/availability before heading out given the footprint changes.
A&W Canada used to serve the Beyond Meat burger (launched nationally in 2018), but as of late September they’ve replaced it with their own A&W Plant-Based Burger developed in-house. The new item is now listed on A&W’s menu and was announced via a national press release; trade coverage also notes it replaces the Beyond patty.
The vegan grocer Good Rebel marked its ninth anniversary, thanking customers for supporting an independent, animal-free food shop since its opening on September 30, 2016, and crediting its team for the store’s longevity. The note reflects on the impact of every purchase, from plant milks to cashew cheeses, both for the business and for animals, and reaffirms the founders’ commitment to the community and their mission as they look ahead to many more years.
