Week of Feb 26 - Mar 4

A new restaurant, two solid events, and a few updates worth knowing.

The tofu options in Singapore are top notch

I’m back from my trip and a little disappointed that winter is still going strong. I spent some time in Singapore, and it might be one of the best places in the world I’ve been to for vegan food. The photo above is a bean curd dessert with a soy milk drink, and I’m still thinking about it.

Here’s what you should know this week:

  • One of my favourite restaurants has opened a new location

  • Two events happening this weekend that look great

  • A few quick notes on recent events, plus a bit of help needed from this community

Let’s get into it.

Product of the Week

Each week, I share a vegan product I personally use or trust. Some links are affiliate links, at no extra cost to you. I only recommend products I genuinely stand behind.

⭐ Spotlight: Animal Justice is a Canadian non-profit using the legal system to protect animals and challenge cruelty. Their merch supports this work directly, with all proceeds going back into advocacy.

Not an affiliate link, just supporting a great organization.

Worth Noting:

Taqueria Vegana, one of my favourite places in the city, has opened a second location after a strong run at its original spot. The new restaurant is at 975 Bloor St W, near Christie Pits. It held its grand opening on Valentine’s Day and is serving their signature vegan tacos, campeaditos, nachos, and all the other good stuff.

A quick update on Buy Vegan: I’ve decided not to continue with that project. I still think a vegan shopping marketplace is a good idea, but it’s more time-intensive than I can realistically commit to right now. I want to focus my energy on this newsletter and on growing this community. The site will be closing, but that means more time and attention here.

I’ve also made some changes to the formatting of this newsletter. The goal is a more streamlined, simple layout that gets you the information I think is most relevant, without the filler. Your time matters, and that’s where I think the value of this newsletter is.

I’d really love your feedback. If you have any thoughts (what you like, what could be better, or even complaints) just reply to this email and let me know.

As always, thanks for being part of this community. I’ll see you next week.
