Week of Apr 30 - May 6
One event, a new launch, and a bagel shop you should probably visit

Primrose Bagel
We're wrapping up April on a slower week for events but there is still lots to discuss.
We've also got an exciting new launch from a favourite plant-forward restaurant, a bagel spot worth putting on your radar, some news from the wider vegan world worth a read, and a product rec that takes the effort out of weeknight eating.
May is shaping up to be a busy month for the Toronto vegan community, so consider this a gentle warm-up for the summer to come.
This Week:
π
Sunday, May 3
π 11:30 a.m.β1:30 p.m.
π Wishbone Animal Rights Lab, 108 Dundas St W, 2nd Floor
ποΈ 416-357-4345 for Reservations (no price is listed)
An all-you-can-eat vegan buffet brunch hosted by 5 Principles Cuisines at Wishbone's Vegutainment Centre, returning after a short break. The spread includes General Tao, tofu scramble, BBQ drumsticks, falafel, mac and cheese, bok choy stew, wraps, salads, and more β also suggested as an early Mother's Day outing.
(Event details are accurate to the best of my knowledge at the time of publishing. Events are intended to be vegan, but details may change, please confirm directly with the organizer if you have specific concerns.)
Product of the Week
Each week, I share a vegan product I personally use or trust. Some links are affiliate links, at no extra cost to you. I only recommend products I genuinely stand behind.
β Spotlight: Green Zebra Green Zebra Kitchen has been delivering 100% plant-based, gluten-free, and dairy-free prepared meals across the GTA since 2007, with a rotating weekly menu, no refined sugars, and delivery straight to your door every Tuesday. Whether you order Γ la carte or go with a meal plan, it's one of the easiest ways to eat well without the prep. Use our link to get 15% off your entire order |
Worth Noting:
A few stories worth flagging from the wider vegan world this week: First, a potential comeback for a Canadian classic: Yves Veggie Cuisine, the pioneer plant-based brand discontinued by Hain Celestial not long ago, may be returning after trademark filings suggest Maple Leaf Foods has quietly acquired the brand. Possible new products includes burgers, hot dogs, and jerky. Nothing is confirmed yet, but it's one to watch.
Bellona Kitchen, the plant-forward Italian spot at Jane and College, has launched Pronto by Bellona which is a fresh, scratch-made meal program that brings their restaurant kitchen directly to your door. Every Pronto meal is made the same morning in Bellona's own kitchen using the same recipes and ingredients as the dining room, with no central facility, no cook-chill processing, and no preservatives. The lineup is priced from $5.99 to $11.99 and is available for pickup at either the College Street or Jane Street location, delivery within Toronto, or walk-in counter grab while supplies last. The official launch party has been rescheduled to Thursday, May 7.
If you haven't made it to Primrose Bagels on Oakwood yet, it's worth the trip, though fair warning, weekend waits for sandwiches can stretch to 45 minutes or more. We stopped in after seeing Plant Curious feature them and walked out with a bag of bagels and a tub of their tofu cream cheese instead. The bagels are more New York style rather than Montreal, so for me not worth the tripβ¦but the tofu cream cheese is genuinely outstanding and worth the visit on its own.
