Week of May 28 - June 3

Summer’s starting to take shape with soap making, socialising, and a few reasons to look forward to what’s ahead.

This week’s edition has a nice mix of hands-on fun, community catch-ups, and summer energy building in the background.

We’ve got a vegan soap-making workshop, a Vegan Drinks night at NUTTEA, and a Climate Week happy hour to kick off June, plus a special spotlight on the Vegan Night Market returning to Balmy Beach this summer.

There’s also some good news to note with Yves Veggie Cuisine making a comeback in Canada.

A solid week for anyone looking to get out, meet people, and start leaning into the season.

Spotlight

This week is a little different from our usual highlight. Instead of a product, I’m focusing a special summer announcement for Toronto’s vegan community.

The Vegan Night Market

Toronto’s Vegan Night Market begins this summer on June 18th with a series of Thursday evening events at Balmy Beach!

  • Thursday, June 18, 6 – 9:30

  • Thursday, July 16, 6 – 9:30

  • Thursday, August 13, 6 – 9:30

  • Thursday, Sept. 10, 6 – 9:30

This one feels especially welcome with Vegandale, VegTO Fest, Planted Expo, and the Spring Market not happening this summer.

Worth Noting:

Yves Veggie Cuisine is coming back to Canada

Maple Leaf Foods has now confirmed it is reviving the brand, with five products currently slated to return to Canadian shelves sometime this summer, and the company says the move reflects continued confidence in the plant-based category. It’s a notable bit of positive news for us vegans, especially given how much nostalgic loyalty Yves still has.
