Week of Jun 18 - 24

Lots happening this week, starting tonight at the beach.

Tonight is the night for the Vegan Night Market that opens its summer series at Balmy Beach. It feels like a proper start to the season, and honestly, a much-needed one after a spring that saw a few too many cancellations and closures.

Beyond tonight, this week has a lot going on: Sunday is the first day of summer and there are two events to mark it β€” a street outreach Cube of Truth and a vegan potluck picnic at Christie Pits.

Now let’s get into all the details.

This Week:

πŸ“… Thursday, June 18, 2026
πŸ•’ 6:00–9:30 p.m.
πŸ“ Balmy Beach, 2205 Queen St E
🎟️ Free admission

Toronto's Vegan Night Market launches its summer series tonight with an evening of plant-based food, local shops, live music, giveaways, and community by the water. A complimentary sunset yoga and sound bath runs from 8:00–9:00 p.m. on the beach. This event is a much anticipated addition to our vegan calendar!

πŸ“… Sunday, June 21, 2026
πŸ•’ 11:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
πŸ“ Downtown Toronto (exact location provided upon sign-up)
🎟️ Free

A Cube of Truth is a street outreach event organized by Anonymous for the Voiceless, where participants form a silent, static display showing standard animal agriculture footage while outreach volunteers engage passersby in one-on-one conversation. New volunteers are welcome and should arrive punctual and prepared β€” plain black clothing is required, and it's recommended to review the AV Outreach Protocol at activism101.com beforehand.

πŸ“… Sunday, June 21, 2026
πŸ•’ 11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
πŸ“ Christie Pits Park, 750 Bloor St W (beside Christie subway station)
🎟️ Free

A casual outdoor potluck picnic to kick off the first day of summer, open to everyone (vegans and vegan-curious). Attendees are asked to bring a fully vegan dish to share, their own reusable plates and utensils, and a picnic blanket. No alcohol permitted, and all foods must be free of animal products including honey and dairy.

(Event details are accurate to the best of my knowledge at the time of publishing. Events are intended to be vegan, but details may change, please confirm directly with the organizer if you have specific concerns.)

Product of the Week

Each week, I share a vegan product I personally use or trust. Some links are affiliate links, at no extra cost to you. I only recommend products I genuinely stand behind.

⭐ Spotlight: PlantVital High-Potency Vegan Vitamin D3 + K2: a made-in-Canada supplement combining 1000 IU of vitamin D3 with 120 mcg of K2 in the patented MK7 form, in a straightforward unflavoured capsule.

Vitamin D3 is one of the most commonly recommended supplements and for vegans, it's worth paying close attention to since dietary sources are almost entirely animal-based. PlantVital is a Canadian brand and at under $20 for a four-month supply it's one of the better-value options out there.

Worth Noting:

While not a vegan event, the Underground Night Market returns to The Commons at Harbourfront Centre (235 Queens Quay W) on Thursday, June 18 from 5:00–11:00 p.m., with all food and drinks priced at $10 and under, including vegan and vegetarian options among the vendor lineup (no vegan options have been confirmed at this time).
