There are a couple of ways to plug into the local vegan community this week, whether you already have plans for tonight’s rooftop gathering or are looking for a casual place to meet people on Friday.
This edition also includes a quick note on the CNE, now back at Exhibition Place for its annual late-summer run.
This Week:
📅 Tonight
📍 The Big Carrot Danforth Community Market rooftop, 348 Danforth Ave
Sales have ended for this event but as a reminder for those who got tickets, this is a rooftop sunset social hosted by VegTO and Hamilton’s 100% plant-based Brazilian bakery SAU Bake. For those that didn’t get tickets you can always visit SAU Bake at their location in Hamilton.
📅 Friday, August 28
🕒 7:00–10:00 p.m.
📍 La Vegan Ethiopian & Eritrean Vegan Cuisine, 1450 Danforth Ave
🎟️ Free; food and drinks available for purchase
A monthly vegan social for meeting new people and connecting with others interested in vegan living, open to vegans and non-vegans. This edition has a summer-refresh theme and takes place at La Vegan, with name tags. I think I will be able to make this one so come say hi 👋.
(Event details are accurate to the best of my knowledge at the time of publishing. Events are intended to be vegan, but details may change, please confirm directly with the organizer if you have specific concerns.)
Worth Noting:
The CNE has begun
The Canadian National Exhibition opened on August 21 and runs until Monday, September 7 at Exhibition Place, which always feels like a bittersweet marker that summer is winding down. For vegans, the fair is a bit of a mixed bag: there are a few clearly plant-based options, but you’ll need to read labels and ask vendors about ingredients and preparation.
