Hello my fellow Insiders,
It’s a very quiet week with not much coming across my radar after a couple of action-packed editions, so I thought I’d take the opportunity to share a little about myself for anyone who’s new here.
My name is Jonathan, and I started the Veggie in the 6ix Instagram account back in 2019. What began as an Instagram page grew into a blog and a few other projects, eventually leading to this newsletter.
It has now been more than a year of putting this newsletter together each week, and I truly enjoy it. I love being part of Toronto’s vegan community, supporting local vegan businesses, and meeting so many like-minded people along the way.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Veggie in the 6ix over the years and a special welcome to the new readers who continue to find their way here each week.
I would also like to mention that I have two big announcements coming next week, so stay tuned for that and enjoy these last days of summer!
Product of the Week
Each week, I share a vegan product I personally use or trust. Some links are affiliate links, at no extra cost to you. I only recommend products I genuinely stand behind.
⭐ Spotlight: Barely Vegan is a new Toronto plant-based dessert project that offers weekly Bake Boxes that launched this month. Their approach is simple: familiar, polished desserts made fully vegan, with early offerings including a fruit-shaped mango mousse made with mango white chocolate, light mango mousse, and mango crémeux.
The mango dessert is also gluten-free and nut-free. Keep an eye out for weekly Toronto drops and upcoming coffee-shop availability.

Worth Noting:
A friend of mine runs Carobium, and it’s a genuinely good option if you enjoy a warm, chocolate-adjacent drink but want to skip the caffeine. The Toronto-based brand works with slow-roasted Mediterranean carob, a naturally caffeine-free ingredient with a gently sweet, malted flavour that can stand in for cocoa in lattes, baking, or a simple hot drink.
Carobium’s Tobago Latte Powder is an easy place to start: a low-sugar, coconut-and-carob drink mix designed for a comforting hot latte without coffee or cocoa. The site also shares more about carob and the brand’s products, so it’s worth a look if you’re after an evening-friendly alternative to your usual hot chocolate or latte.
