Hello All,
This week has a few opportunities to get out, eat well, and connect with the local vegan community, including the return of the Night Market and a hands-on cooking class with a vegan option.
It also marks a transition point for this newsletter, with an important update in the Worth Noting section below.
Last week, I mentioned that I had two big announcements coming. As it turns out, one of those plans fell through, but I’m still excited to share the update that did come together and I hope it will help this community continue to grow in a new way.
This Week:
📅 Tonight, September 10, 2026
🕒 6:30pm
📍 Roll This Way Sushi, 14 Logan Ave, Unit B
🎟️ $85
This is not an all-vegan class, but Roll This Way offers a dedicated vegan menu option for its hands-on Sushi Making 101 workshop. The vegan kit includes avocado-cucumber, vegan California, Mediterranean beet-and-hummus, roasted-red-pepper temaki, and roasted-red-pepper nigiri; participants learn several sushi styles and take home their finished sushi. Confirm you want the vegan option when booking.
📅 Saturday, September 12, 2026
🕒 1:00–7:00 p.m.
📍 Balmy Beach, 6 Glen Manor Dr
🎟️ Free
VegTO and The Vegan Night Market are back and presenting an extended daytime waterfront market with fully plant-based food vendors, pop-ups, local makers, live music, and space to spend the afternoon by the lake. It is family and pet-friendly.
(Event details are accurate to the best of my knowledge at the time of publishing. Events are intended to be vegan, but details may change, please confirm directly with the organizer if you have specific concerns.)
Worth Noting:
And now for the big news…
I have decided to discontinue The Toronto Vegan Insider and join the Plant Curious team, where I’ll be taking the lead on a new bi-weekly newsletter.
Much of what you’ve come to expect will remain the same, local vegan news, events, businesses, and community updates, but it will have a new home, a slightly different look, and the opportunity to reach a larger audience. I’m excited about the chance to keep growing and supporting this incredible community in a new way.
Thank you to everyone who has followed along, shared the newsletter, sent tips, attended events, and supported The Insider so far.
I really hope you’ll join me in this next chapter. I don’t feel it would be right to transfer anyone’s email address to the new list without your consent, so I’ll be asking anyone interested to sign up directly.
The sign-up link is not quite ready yet, but I’ll send a dedicated email with all the details in the near future.
Thank you all again and I hope to see you at our new home!
